Last Sunday my Sermon was titled “The Mirror of Truth”. We all know that when we look into the mirror, we catch a glimpse of ourselves as we truly are.  We may  be able to cover our flaws so that they are not evident, but in reality they are still there. We are able to make adjustments so that when we are before others our flaws are not visible, but in reality they still exist.

Contrast that with the “spiritual mirror of truth”.  As we glance into the true image of our spiritual self become evident.  The mirror of truth gives us a view of our true spiritual condition and the glaring areas of our lives that require not only our attention but the attention of our Heavenly Father.  The Prescription we need, God has already given us.

1.  Prayer- Casting our spiritual flaws before the Lord.
2.  Study of his word that will become “a lamp into our feet and a light before our path”.
3.  Obedience- Allowing God to speak to us and following His path and corrections.

As we open our lives to the direction of God, we will also have a concern and a desire to reach others.  With God’s help and our willingness, we will move into the fields to become “reapers of the spiritual harvest”.  There are people in our lives who may never come to Christ unless someone shares  the love and concern of a burdened heart with them.  Christ has compelled us to go into the highways and hedges and share the Love of Christ.  We are His chosen vessels to carry and share the wonderful words of life with others.   We must enter the harvest with a vision, centered on the lives of others.  Proverbs 29:18, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he”.  

We must realize that we are only one person but if we saturate our lives with prayer, and feast upon the Word of God and His direction, surely we will follow His voice in obedience to point others to the God we love and serve.
